Bro Kwon's Booty

The story of Bro Kwon's Booty and its role in Shell Points

Contents

Overview

Bro Kwon's Booty was a community treasure hunt and NFT collection originally released in November 2022. The NFT collection consists of 35,000 crates, each of which can be "opened" by the owner to reveal an artifact. Certain artifacts can then be activated to help users earn Shell Points.

Crate Hunt (Concluded)

During the original event on November 14 2022, there were 20,000 Sunken Crates, 10,000 Rare Crates, and 5,000 Mythic Crates. All crates cost 1 DAI to retrieve; however, retrieving Rare Crates required owning 1 toucan and retrieving Mythic Crates required owning 3 toucans.

All original crates are now sold out but may still be purchased on secondary markets such as OpenSea.

Artifacts

Each crate contains a single artifact. To reveal the artifact, you need to open the crate. This will burn the crate NFT and mint a new (random) artifact NFT. Warning: once revealed, you can’t put the artifact back in the crate! You can also directly buy artifacts on secondary markets such as OpenSea.

Some artifacts are rarer than others, as indicated in Alice's rarity table below. (Alice believes the Rare and Mythic crates are more likely to contain more powerful artifacts.)

Artifacts come in three major flavors: quota expanders, Shell Points boosters, and miscellaneous items. Expanders increase your token quotas permanently, making you eligible to earn Shell Points. Boosters temporarily increase the rate at which you earn Shell Points. Miscellaneous items don’t seem to have much use by themselves (but Bob thinks he might be able to buidl something with them someday)…

Crates and artifacts are NFTs. You can buy, sell, and trade these on any NFT marketplace on Arbitrum—but only until the artifact is activated.

Activating Artifacts

Activating an artifact will tap its power, instantly supercharging your wallet with its special ability. But remember, once you activate an artifact to unleash its power, the NFT is burned—meaning you won’t be able to trade the artifact anymore.

FAQ

What’s the difference between the Sunken, Rare, and Mythic Crates?

The only difference between the crates is the drop rate (probability) for containing powerful artifacts. Sunken Crates have a standard drop rate; Rare Crates have a slightly better drop rate and Mythic Crates have the best drop rate. Refer to Alice's rarity table for details.

Is it random or predetermined which artifact will come out of my crate?

Random. Alice’s rarity table only tracks the probability of discovering any particular artifact in any particular crate. Whenever you open a new crate, it’s like rolling dice—anything could happen!

Are the crates and artifacts NFTs?

Yes! Both the crates and the artifacts are NFTs. Up until you activate an artifact, you can buy, sell, and trade them on any NFT marketplace on Arbitrum. However, once you activate an artifact, the NFT is burned (so you can no longer trade it).

Give me the technical details of the NFTs.

The crates correspond to ERC-1155 IDs of 0, 1, and 2, and artifacts correspond to IDs between 3 and 17. When you open a crate, your crate NFT is burned and your balance of some ERC-1155 ID between 3 and 17 is increased. Once you activate an artifact, that NFT is burned too.
